At the destination

After sitting 14 long hours in a plane, drinking lots of free beverages and watching several inflight movies we finally arrived to Los Angeles. Temperature (+20°C) was great, much warmer than in Finland (+5°C) when we left it.

There was no direct flight from Helsinki to LA, so we had to change plane in London. Luckily the waiting time between the flights was only less than a hour - too bad the plane itself was running late over one hour.

The first thing was to find a way from airport to hotel. Our hotel provided free shuttles, but of course they didn't run on that day. We however managed to find one (chargeable) and found the hotel. First impression of the hotel was modest, but very clean place. The hotel was definitely cheapest on our journey, but it also accommodated people of same age and interest. There were also all kinds of tours arranged by the hotel staff, e.g. tours to LA city, Universal Studios, Disneyland and Grand Canyon. We however did more self-driven travelling and found those places ourself. Orbit hotel also made trips to different night club every night. It was a great opportunity to see what a kind of the night life of West Hollywood actually is.

Even though we hadn't much sleep and due to time difference we've had been awake over 24 hours, we went to buy some beer and visited local bar in the evening. The live bands were great, entrace fee cheap and people very convenient. Quite a many knew something about Finland, at least Santa Claus and Nokia.
